Walnut Chippendale Reproduction Corner Cupboard
The design for this piece came from Franklin H. Gottshall's Making Furniture Masterpieces. I bought the walnut in Jet, Oklahoma from a private sawyer; it had been air dried for many years. This particular walnut has a unique color, not too light, which I feel is really attractive. The top was carved by hand, along with the shell, finials, feet, and lower section shell. The carved shell is made of poplar, and is handcarved with gouges. Notice the turned and fluted quarter columns on both the upper and lower cases. The upper doors are wood mullioned and have carefully chosen antique reproduction glass. The bottom doors are tombstone style raised panels. Chippendale period hardware. It is finished with oil and wax
