Curved Glass Front Curio

White Oak Mission Style Curio

This curio was reproduced after an heirloom piece owned by a friend in Moroni, Utah.  She was kind enough to let me take photographs and measurements.  It was in her mother's Victorian house in Fairview, Utah for many years, and probably dates to late 19th century.  Some notable features are:  All the carvings are carved into the wood, not applied to the surface (usually an indication of machine carving done in early 20th century.)  The drawers are bow fronted and dovetailed.  The secretary lid locks with half-mortise locks, as do the drawers and curio front. Note the spectacular grain in the cabriole legs, front and back. Pigeon holes in the secretary are carefully matched and crafted.  And of course, the sea horse crowns the bevel glass mirror.
